Keypad door locks are keyless locks that are programmable and used to protect and secure different areas in your home, office or other buildings. They are perfect for your home or office front or inner doors. Keypads are available with different features including: • Change codes whenever you need. • Withstand impacts, therefore won’t wear out when used excessively. • Lock automatically, offering the highest security. • Not dependent on power, either through batteries or main supply. • No need to worry about carrying keys, losing them or someone stealing or losing them. • Perfect for external door locks and in areas where there is high usage of doors. • Can withstand all types of weather • Quick/easy installation, and can be used to modernise existing locks. There are a couple of negative points, firstly that the number of keys issued with these locks is limited. They also require a digital numeric code which has a restricted code selection. And security can be compromised if the lock is forced open or tampered with. Electronic or mechanical keypad? Electronic is easy to use and install; a large range of codes options; all important lighting up keyboard facility. You do have a problem however if the batteries suddenly decide not to work. Mechanical have the same usage and installation advantages as electronic but they have total mechanical reliability and they are heavy duty. And you can live without a lit-up keyboard.
